How it works

How Forte learns from your past resumes

The more you tailor, the more Forte knows about how you describe your work. Here is exactly what gets stored, how it is used, and how to turn it off.

What Forte stores

Each time you tailor a resume, Forte indexes the bullets, summary, and project blurbs from that tailored copy, plus the raw text of the resume you uploaded. Everything is scoped to your account. We do not share it across users, sell it, or use it to train models.

How it shows up in your next tailor

When you tailor a resume for a new job, Forte looks up phrasing and bullets from your past resumes that are most relevant to the new job description. Those snippets become extra evidence the model can draw from, alongside the resume you uploaded. You will see sharper bullets that match the way you have described your work before.

Privacy and control

Your resume history never leaves your Forte account. You can turn off resume-history learning anytime in Settings. When it is off, each tailor is scoped only to the file you upload that run. You can also delete individual past resumes from My Applications, and their indexed content is removed automatically.

FAQ

Questions you might have

Can other users see my resumes?+
No. Every chunk in your resume history is locked to your user id by database-level row security. There is no shared corpus across users, no anonymized pool, and no cross-account retrieval. A query made on behalf of your account can only return rows that belong to your account.
Does Forte pull from public resumes on the internet?+
No. The only thing that feeds your resume history is content you have already created or uploaded inside Forte. There is no external corpus, no LinkedIn scraping, no shared template library quietly augmenting your output. If a phrase appears in your tailored resume, it came from something you wrote.
Can I delete what is stored?+
Yes. Deleting a resume from My Applications removes its indexed content from your history within the same transaction the resume row is deleted in. The Settings toggle controls whether your history is read on future tailors; to stop content from being stored, delete the underlying resumes. Deleting your account removes everything end to end.
Will my old resumes leak into a job they do not match?+
Only highly relevant snippets are retrieved for any given tailor. A similarity threshold filters out weak matches at the database level, so retrieval returns nothing rather than returning marginally relevant content. If nothing in your history is a strong match, nothing gets pulled in, and the tailor is built from the resume you just uploaded.
How does Forte decide which snippets to surface?+
When you start a tailor, Forte builds a query from the target job title and the job description, embeds it, and asks the vector database for the most similar paragraphs and bullets across your prior tailored resumes. Only chunks above the similarity threshold are returned, and they are passed to the tailoring prompt as additional grounding context. The model is instructed to prefer the resume you just uploaded as the primary source and to treat history chunks as supporting evidence.
Does using resume history make my tailored resume less truthful?+
No. The same grounding rule applies to retrieved chunks as to your uploaded resume: every claim in the output must trace back to something you actually wrote. History chunks expand the pool of evidence the model can draw from, they do not loosen the truthfulness constraint. If a retrieved bullet contradicts your current resume, the model is instructed to defer to the more recent source.
Will Forte mix experience from different jobs?+
Retrieved bullets keep the company and title attribution they had in the source resume. If you had a metric on a project at Company A, that metric stays attached to Company A in any future tailor. The prompt is explicit about not relocating achievements between roles, and the evaluation pass flags any output where the attribution looks suspicious.
What if I have not tailored a resume yet?+
Your history is empty on day one, and the tailor uses only the resume you upload. The corpus builds itself as you use Forte. After two or three tailored resumes, you will start to see history bullets surface in subsequent tailors when the new job description is a strong match for prior experience.
